Most jewellery brands sell you a piece and hope you don't ask too many questions about how it got to you. We've built Blinglane on the opposite belief — that the more you know about how your jewellery was made, the more you'll value it. So here's an honest, transparent walk through what happens between an idea in our Toronto studio and a Blinglane box on your doorstep.

Step 1 — The Sketch

Every Blinglane piece begins as a sketch in our Toronto studio. Our design conversations start with a single question: would a woman want to wear this every day for the next two years? Trend-led pieces have their place, but our core collection is built around longevity — designs that look as good in 2027 as they do today.

We design around the woman, not the trend. Our customer is the woman who travels for work, who lives between time zones, who needs jewellery that holds up to airports, late nights, and gym classes. Every design decision flows from that brief.

Step 2 — Material Selection

This is where most of the work happens — and where most fashion jewellery brands cut corners. Every Blinglane piece is built on a hypoallergenic, nickel-free, lead-free, cadmium-free base. We don't compromise on this.

We source from manufacturing partners who provide material certifications and independent test reports — not just verbal assurances. Suppliers who can't substantiate their claims, we don't work with. It's that simple.

Step 3 — Crafting

Our pieces are crafted by skilled artisans working with our manufacturing partners. The process varies by piece type — cast pieces use lost-wax casting, chains are machine-formed and hand-finished, stone-set pieces are hand-set by craftspeople trained for years.

For our gold-plated range, we use plating thicknesses of 1.5 to 2.5 microns — substantially thicker than the 0.25–0.5 micron plating common in budget fashion jewellery. This is what makes the difference between a piece that fades in months versus one that holds its finish for years.

Step 4 — Quality Control in Toronto

Every Blinglane piece passes through our Toronto studio for final inspection before it goes to a customer. We check:

  • Plating integrity (no thin spots, no exposed base metal)
  • Finish quality (no scratches, no rough edges, smooth solder joints)
  • Clasp and closure function (every clasp opened and closed before approval)
  • Stone setting (no loose stones, no glue residue)
  • Dimensional accuracy against the design spec

Pieces that fail any of these checks don't ship. They go back to be re-finished or, occasionally, retired entirely.

Step 5 — Packaging

Every piece is hand-packed at our Toronto studio in our signature Blinglane box. We include:

  • The piece itself, in an anti-tarnish pouch
  • A care card with specific care instructions for that piece
  • The invoice for your records
  • A handwritten thank-you note for orders above ₹5,000 — yes, we still hand-write these

If you've added a personalised gift note in your order, our packing team handwrites it into the box.

Step 6 — Shipping

From the moment your piece is packed, it begins its journey to you. For India deliveries, we hand the package to DTDC International or DHL for cross-border transport. Once it reaches India, last-mile delivery is handled by Bluedart, Delhivery, or Ecom-Express depending on your PIN code.

We operate on a Delivered Duty Paid basis — all India customs duties and import taxes are prepaid by Blinglane Inc. so you never face a surprise charge at delivery. The price you paid at checkout is the final price.

You receive tracking via four channels: email, SMS, WhatsApp, and your Blinglane account. The first scan typically appears within 24 hours of dispatch.

Step 7 — Customer Care After Delivery

Our work doesn't end when the package arrives. Our customer-care team is available Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM IST via email, WhatsApp, live chat, and Instagram. We answer questions about care, sizing, exchanges, and anything else.

And if anything's not right — wrong size, design didn't suit, or simply changed your mind — you have 15 days from delivery to return or exchange with free reverse pickup, anywhere in India. Refunds are initiated within 3 business days of return receipt.

Why We Do It This Way

It would be cheaper, faster, and easier to lower plating thickness, skip the Toronto QC, use vaguer material claims, and charge for returns. The Indian fashion jewellery market mostly works that way. We've chosen the opposite — better materials, tighter QC, transparent claims, generous returns — because we believe the woman buying her jewellery deserves the same care that went into making it.
